Your visit
What to expect at Advanced Footcare.
Whatever has brought you in, the visit follows the same clinical process: we take your history, examine the foot, diagnose the cause and set out the treatment options.
Everyone welcome
Foot care that fits the person, not just the foot.
We treat patients of every kind, from those managing a long-term condition to first-time visitors. Every patient is assessed and treated by a named, HCPC-registered clinician who takes a full history before recommending treatment.
Podiatry and chiropody: two words, one profession.
Chiropody is the traditional name and podiatry the modern one. The professionals are one and the same, all registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, so whichever term you have heard, it means expert care of the feet and lower limbs.
It runs from the routine, like nails, corns and hard skin, through to biomechanics, foot pain and, where clinically indicated, surgery. Tell us what the problem is and we will assess it and recommend the right treatment.

Nervous or anxious?
Nervous about a foot problem? It is common, and it does not change the care.
Many patients feel self-conscious about their feet or unsure what treatment involves. We explain each step before we carry it out and answer your questions. The clinical assessment and treatment are the same either way.
Nothing happens without your say-so, and we explain each step before it happens.
Unhurried appointments, with time to assess the problem properly.
Bring someone with you if it helps, and tell us what you are worried about.
Prefer to just talk it through first? Call the clinic and we will happily do that.

Treatment or next step
Where appropriate we begin treatment at the same visit, or arrange the next step.

Older patients & long-term conditions
Regular care for feet that need a little more.
Feet ask for more attention as we get older, or when a condition like diabetes or arthritis affects circulation, sensation and mobility. We look after these patients with particular care, catching small problems early before they become bigger ones.
Care of the elderly
Unhurried, gentle routine care from a clinician who specialises in the feet of older patients, keeping you comfortable and mobile.
Diabetes & circulation
Careful, regular checks of circulation and sensation, with safe nail and skin care and early attention to anything developing.
Arthritis & reduced mobility
We work around stiffness, pain and limited movement, and keep appointments calm and easy to manage.
Long-term, joined-up care
The same named clinician each visit, so your care stays consistent and nothing gets lost between appointments.

Children & younger patients
Little feet, looked after too.
Growing feet sometimes need expert attention. We assess and treat children and younger patients, with clear, plain-English explanations for both child and parent.
How your child walks
Questions about tiptoeing, in-toeing or flat feet, assessed calmly, with clear reassurance about what is normal and what genuinely benefits from help.
Growing pains & sport
Active children can get heel pain and aches as they grow. We assess, explain what is happening, and give simple plans to keep them moving comfortably.
Verrucae & nail problems
Gentle, effective treatment for verrucae and ingrown or problem toenails, always at a pace that suits a younger patient.
A clear first visit
Unhurried appointments with clear explanation at each step for the child and the parent.
